Camping as an individual or with your immediate family is totally different from camping with a group. There are several different categories of camping groups. Some of the most familiar camping groups include boy and girl scouts, mountain climbing/hiking camps, summer sports camps, band camp and church camps. Within these categories there are different types of camping. It may be a rustic camping experience with tents and open pit fires, semi-rustic with hogans (similar to a covered wagon to sleep in without the wheels) or modern camping with cabins or dormitories in a wooded area. Camping with a group can also be for varying lengths of time. Some can be a weekend getaway, a week long adventure, two weeks in the outdoors or even a whole summer.
If you are venturing into camping with a group, compare the different types of camps available in the area that you would like to visit, think about your camping preferences and your interests. Some areas for a fee will provide a guided tour of the camping area where you can learn history about the area, hike to historical landmarks and have the opportunity to photograph the natural surroundings.
To locate such wonderful outdoor recreational activities, contact local parks and camping locations, search the web, and also check with you local banks and credit unions. Many banks offer group trips/tours at reasonable rates. If you are not finding what you are looking for, try a travel agent. Their prices may be higher, but may have the location and camping experience that you are looking for.
